DeRango, Best and Associates is a full service real estate appraisal and consulting company specializing in commercial appraisals, real estate consulting, and litigation support. Our services include a broad range of appraisal functions including eminent domain appraisals, appraisal review, and aviation related assignments.

The principals of the firm are Daniel R. DeRango, MAI and Richard A. Best, MAI. Dan DeRango and Richard Best jointly manage the firm. DeRango, Best & Associates was established on October 28, 1998 as the successor to Daniel R. DeRango & Company, established in 1995.

Mr. DeRango's qualifications include a degree in Business Administration from Stetson University, he holds the MAI appraisal designation and he is a state certified general real estate appraiser in the State of Florida. Mr. DeRango also holds certification licensure in several other states. Mr. DeRango has provided expert testimony in State and Federal courts and has testified on a variety of valuation issues in Florida, Minnesota, Kentucky and New York. Mr. DeRango has been appraising real property in the Central Florida area for over 20 years and has experience with a broad variety of property types. Mr. DeRango has expertise in the valuation of income properties and, in particular, specializes in aviation properties at various airports around the country.

Richard Best has been in the appraisal business in various locations around Florida since 1991. Mr. Best's qualifications include a degree in Real Estate from Florida State University. He holds the MAI appraisal designation and is a state certified general real estate appraiser in the State of Florida. Mr. Best has commercial appraisal experience in the Orlando, Jacksonville and Tampa markets and has prepared a variety of appraisals in locations around Florida and Georgia. Mr. Best has served as an expert witness on numerous occasions with the United States Federal Bankruptcy Court. He has also served as a real estate consultant for several institutional clients.

The balance of our staff have appraised numerous commercial properties in and around central Florida. Our experience ranges from small vacant sites and small strip takings for eminent domain purposes to large multi-use facilities, mixed-use projects, high rise-office buildings and super regional malls.

With our state-of-the-art office facilities and highly trained staff, we are presently generating over 1,000 appraisal and consulting assignments per year. We are fully equipped and capable of providing services as needed within our clients' time needs and at the highest quality levels.

Our firm's real estate consulting services have included appraisals for eminent domain property takings, preparation of market and feasibility studies for corporate clients and lenders, market rent studies and feasibility and market studies for large mixed use projects in the tourist areas.

Typically projects are assigned to a Partner and a staff associate to work on jointly with clerical and support staff providing administrative and research functions.
